Our Primary School Programme offers a range of student-centred, SESE curriculum-based activities which can be undertaken as part of a Discover Primary Science and Maths Day (DPSM), a School Tour or general school visit to our park. Students will use both indoor and outdoor spaces to learn and have fun by participating in a variety of activities, experiments and team tasks. All educational activities are curriculum-orientated.
Our Primary School Tours run throughout the school year (except December) and you can choose from our range of educational and recreational activities to create a day that best suits the requirements of your trip. It’s never too early to book your School Tour! Click to see our new Primary School Flier.
Schools can combine educational and recreational activities Tree Top Adventure Walk, Climbing Wall, Leap of Faith, Junior Woodland Adventure Course, Orienteering Trails and Boating) to create the perfect package for your visit.
We also have a small gift and sweet shop in the Visitor Centre with most items priced under €5.
Discover Primary Science and Maths
Why not take part in a Primary Science and Maths Day?
We are an accredited SFI Discover Centre. Our Discover Primary Science and Maths (DPSM) activities are based around the Coal Mining Exhibition and incorporates other accredited, SESE curriculum-linked activities which explore the natural environment of the surrounding parkland (e.g. Maths & Numeracy Trail, Water Ecology, Woodland Invertebrate Collection and Nature Trail with Scavenger Hunt). A DPSM day is perfect for schools participating in the SFI Discover Science and Maths Award. DPSM programme runs from September-April and costs €10pp for three of the accredited activities.
