Scouts, Sports Groups & Other Groups

Whether you’re looking for something to do after a long hard season or to get everyone back together before the start of the new season, the Discovery Park is the perfect place to be. With our fun friendly staff who will look after you for the duration of your visit, but who will also make sure you push yourself a little!! Our activities are a mix of individual and team orientated, with a focus on mental and physical challenges!! In addition, our activities are also a lot of fun, which unites any sporting team!!

We run educational and recreational activities midweek throughout the academic year, and also welcome various scout groups at the weekends. There is a range of activities at the park that provides both a mental and a physical challenge for kids of all ages.

While the Tree Top Walk has a minimum age limit of 7 years of age, there is still plenty to do and see at the Park for children under 7. With 80 acres of woodland, there is plenty of exploring to be done. There are 3 permanent orienteering trails, and scout groups led by their leaders or going solo, can take on a time challenge, and see who finds the most markers in the best time!! Our boating lake provides the perfect rest after running around the woods on our orienteering trails. Here all scout groups can enjoy pedalling around the lake on our pedal boats, or paddle about in our Canadian Canoes.

If that has worked up an appetite among the group, you can enjoy a picnic around any of our picnic areas. Otherwise, there is the Canopy Cafe located at the Elf and Fairy Village.  There is also a free timber tumbles play area for young kids who have to sit out the Tree Top Walk activities, with a mini zip wire and climbing wall, swings and slides.

For those that are 7 years and older, they can experience the Tree Top Walk Adventure activities in addition to the above activities. 30 foot in the air, 140 foot long, the Tree Top Walk is no stroll in the park!! ‘But kids love it and adults laugh with fear…’ (Irish Times 2013) Take on the climbing wall with 3 difficulty levels, you’re sure to get to the top once!!

For those that are 12 and older and are also at least 1.3 meters in height, there is the Zipline and Octagon high ropes.  Enjoy the rush of Irelands longest Zipline and feel the wind go through your hair at 40 kph, or at least thought the holes in your helmet.
