Opened in 2007 the visitor centre at Castlecomer Discovery Park stands on the site of a former grass drying building which was located in the estate yard. The new building is a unique and visually pleasing structure which blends perfectly with the traditional stone buildings of The Estate Yard. The building is fully wheelchair accessible and houses our reception area, toilets, Jarrow cafe, Footprints in Coal exhibition and a wide range of exhibitions throughout the year. The centre is the meeting and registration point for all our activities at the park.
The Bridgestone award winning Jarrow Cafe has developed a stellar reputation for serving beautifully made, healthy food. There is an indoor seating area and for when the weather is good an outdoor seating area also. The cafe serves a wide range of food & snacks all cooked in the cafe and served by a warm & welcoming staff. There are a range of children’s meal options and snacks available for takeaway also. To see the Cafe’s full range of delicious home cooked food, and to read about their very generous children’s menu, party menu’s and active retirement group options see their website: The Jarrow Cafe
Adjacent to the cafe is the gallery space which serves as an exhibition space for traveling local and national exhibitions throughout the year. Both the gallery space and a variety of private meeting rooms housed within the estate yard are available for private hire throughout the year.
